MIC - NO White Card!

After several (more) nightmares with my car and printers, finally my MIC DT project is finished (a fair few hours late!)!! Now, I know there's no MIC image in sight BUT... due to a very grumpy new printer I couldn't use my digi's :(
This weeks theme at Make It Colourful is 'To Colour on Something Other Than White Card'. Usually for me that would be fab! You know me...a T shirt here...a candle there...or even a bag with a shrink plastic charm....but NO!! New HP printer 'ate' my last piece of transfer paper...shrink plastic was just NOT going to be forced through and don't even go there with the tissue paper!!! *.*
Then...an idea!!! Acetate!!! That's it...I'll use acetate! Ermmm...ok...so I won't then. New printer won't do transparencies!! Its ink is hopeless for Copics/Promarkers too... even heat set or left for a week, it still smudges/bleeds!!! Bloomin good job it prints beautiful digi papers!!!
So...here we are with a stamped image on a plastic choccy box. Not THE best colouring, because as with normal alcohol ink, it spreads on contact with the surface, but it's not too bad. I stamped the image on the underside of the lid and coloured on the top. Due to the shiny plastic I needed Stazon...but couldn't use it with Copics.
The little flowers were made with Liquid Pearl.
If you get a chance do nip across to see the rest of the teams fab creations...it'll be worth the trip...I promise!! :)

I've coated my corner piece in Dazzling Diamonds.
It's a fab challenge ...just perfect to brighten up your desk and day!! Don't forget to take a peek at the other DT work... you'll be amazed!

Next week La Pashe launch the brand new 'Build-a-Blossom' sheets. They are available in 8 different varieties on A4 sheets. Cut...shape...glue...and use on your cards, 3D gifts and altered projects. Mo's Challenge # 66

Well, where did that week go?????? Hard to believe that a whole 7 days have flown by since the last challenge. But... at least I'm finally managing to catch up with a few things, so that can only be good :)
This week Elaine has given us the theme of 'Around the World - Ethnic' at Mo's Challenge. I just love this image 'Jingle Dancer' ...and it's been great to colour her again.

Going Country!

Oh yes! For this weeks 'Music Saves My Soul' - We're going Country!!
I have to confess that I'm not such an 'old' Country fan, but I absolutely love the Dixie Chicks...and some of the more modern singers, esp Faith Hill and Carrie Underwood.
You'll notice in time that my music tastes range from Abba to Motorhead......with a bit of Malcolm McLaren in the middle!! ^.^
'Til next time... go get those cowboy boots and checked shirts out!! ----------

Help For Katie...

One thing that has to be said for the crafting community, is that everyone rallies around and helps out whenever and wherever they can. That is the case for today. Jak has launched a fund-raiser for a dear friend of hers and the crafting world. Katie Renz is married to Kevin, has twin boys aged 5 and a 10 year old son, and last month was devistatingly diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. You can read all about her story HERE...

Jak organised the fund-raiser with the help of many companies, who have produced some fantastic digi images especially for the cause. There are also some brilliant prizes to be won too, including a FULL SET of Promarkers from the wonderful Letraset.

Now Jak needs YOUR help! If you nip over to Jak's blog you will see all the goodies and also the PayPal link where you can purchase the digi collection for a bargain £15!!!

Companies/people donating are...

Jak Heath...Just Inklined...Clear Dollar Stamps...Doodle Pantry...True:D Doodle designs...Waltzing mouse Stamps...Mo's Digital Pencil Two...Studio 313...Sassy Cheryls...Tiddly Inks...Make It Crafty...Paper In The Works...Lori Designs...Digital Delights.....Letraset & Paper Temptress! Phew!!! So much for so little x

As part of Jak's 'Just Inklined' DT, I wanted to do 'my bit' to spread the word x I've made 2 projects using digi's kindly donated by, Make It Crafty and Just Inklined.

The first is a card using 'Katie's Love Swing' from Make it Crafty.

I have printed and coloured the image...cut it into equal pieces (brave I know! ) ...then double embossed each piece to make it glossy, and put them back together with a slight gap to give the impression of looking through a window. I've then made some curtains and finished it with a 'curtain pulley' holding a 'Hope' ribbon x

The second is a Cookie Box...which is a fab tutorial from Katie's own blog...HERE ...

An image from Just Inklined ...(look...teddy even has blue blood!)... and some grapes would make it a lovely gift for someone in hospital...especially as here in the UK we aren't allowed to take flowers in any more!

Music Saves My Soul

And time still keeps running away!!
My 'Music Saves My Soul' song this week comes to you packed full of memories...the good old times :)

Merry Christmas!!!

No, I've not lost the plot just yet!!! This is one of the few cards I did manage to make...it was for a friend, who is a star and sorts my car for me...even if it is 2 days before Christmas! :)

I have used the rather apt image from Karen's Doodles ... Mr Fix It Car ... I merged it with a little snowman to make it look a bit more festive (but I can't remember where he came from ... so apologies x ) ...as it was made at high speed, you may notice the mistake in the photograph...luckily it was put to rights before it was given away...phew!!
The theme at ABC Christmas Challenge this week is A is for Anything Christmas ...

Mo's Challenge # 64

Morning all...
Well, that's the holidays over...the girls go back to school today, and the clock watching starts again :( Normality can resume...whatever that is!! lol
This week for Mo's challenge we're 'Looking Back'! Elaine, is our host for the month of January, and she chose the theme with thought of retro with the style of 30s, 40's, 50s or 60s.
I'm not sure that mine is sooo retro...but I chose the image Annie as it has an oldie look about it. The papers used are from the fabulous Jak Heath ... HERE & HERE ...
Well...I'd better dash off and get these girls ready for school. Hope you all have a great day...and if you get a chance...come and join us x

Help Our Artists...

Our dear friend Mo has been having a real hard time with a certain somebody, who believes she has the right to 'steal' Mo's (and other companies) images, and put them out on her own site! Even people who sell artists digi and stamped images on Ebay don't/don't want to realise the damage they are doing to these artists....and us!!! They need our help, before our artists stop sharing their wonderful illustrations with us.

Happy Birthday Aubrey...shhhhhh

Don't shout 'Happy Birthday' too loudly...I think Aubrey has overdone his birthday celebrations! Aubrey's Cake is a Just Inklined image, and he and many of his family can be found HERE

I have deserted my Design Teams of late, so I'm now on a mission!! Two cards made this morning...and more planned for this afternoon...but I'll not be able to show you those yet!! I'm off to take dinner to Mum, and feed two 'forever hungry' children first though.
Thank you all for your messages of support...It's good to be back at my craft desk!! :)

Happy New Year and Happy Birthday

It's late I know...but HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. I wish each and every one of you the happiest and craftiest of times in 2011 x
I can't believe that it's all gone so quickly! Usually our celebrations go on until today, as today is/would have been Dad's birthday.
It's been a really tough and emotional journey since the beginning of November, and a lot of it is just a blur...and somewhere in the middle Christmas happened too!! *.*
I must apologise to all my friends who never got Christmas cards this year...I just couldn't bring myself to send bought ones to you, and time ran away so I never got them made. I also apologise to all the girls in the Design Teams that I'm in...and to Mo, Zoe and Jak (x 2) Thank you so much for putting up with me and my scatterbrain ... I promise to get back into the swing of it all...NOW!! xx
I have to say that over the weekend I've even felt like packing every single scrap of craft stuff into boxes and calling it quits!! Eeeek! But I was talked out of it...and the fact that I just don't have THAT many boxes helped too! :)

As we have yet to find the right 'place' for Dad, we didn't have a base to go with flowers etc, so when I suggested to the girls that we send Grandad a balloon, they were happy with that.
Daisy especially, is struggling with the whole thing at the moment, so as we released his balloon and watched it until it was right up into the clouds, she was comforted with the thought that Grandad was able to catch it and read their message. With the added thought that a friend of mine lost his Mum last week with no warning, tissues were certainly needed.
I think it's been one of the toughest times ever for me recently...and for those of you who know me well...I've had a fair few 'tough times' over the years!
As we move on into 2011, I'll never forget the best man ever to have been in my life. Happy Birthday Dad...miss you x
